Monster Energy AMA Supercross - Round 12 of the AMA Supercross in Toronto, Canada. The stadium is one of the bigger ones for indoor supercross and new for this year... the dirt is not frozen! Apparently the dirt is stored year to year and they have found a place not so cold. the wall jump has gone, but a good sand section has been put in again. Breaking News # Chad Reed announced tonight that after Toronto he will have knee surgery to clean up his knee. No Dean Wilson in the 250's (shoulder) or Trey Canard in the 450's (concussion). 250 Heat 1 - Blake Wharton and Vince Friese battle for the lead, Wharton's speed through the whoops sees him quickly in the lead and hold it til the end from Friese, Cole Thompson and Australia's Jackson Richardson. 250 Heat 2 - We learn about Australian Taylor Potter and his mechanic/girlfriend Alex. Taylor and Alex saved up their money from home and are driving a motorhome to try and qualify for races in the AMA supercross series. Marvin Musquin gets the holeshot ahead of Justin Hill. Hill and Musquin have a good battle at the front with Decotis, Hahn and Faith battling behind. Hill trails Musquin by less than a second, but is unable to get by. Decotis is third, Faith is fourth and Hahn after a slide out finishes fifth. Aussie Taylor Potter had to go to the LCQ, got a good start then dropped it in the whoops so unfortunately he doesn't qualify for the main. 250 Main Event - Musquin gets a great start ahead of Wharton and Hahn. Justin Hill, after looking fast in his heat is walking off the track holding his wrist. By the end it's Musquin taking his third win in a row! Hahn moved past Wharton for second. 450 Heat 1 - Nicoletti is out in front! He has Brayton, Stewart, Short and Dungey behind. How would that look on his resume! James Stewart makes his way to the lead by lap two, Dungey is sitting in third by mid race. Stewart wins the heat. Nicoletti has been passed by Dungey, Brayton, Tickle and Short, but still did a great job to finish sixth. 450 Heat 2 - Villopoto and Alessi get ahead off the start followed by Barcia and Millsaps. Reed is stuck mid-pack. Villopoto is out front now and clearing off. Barcia and Millsaps get by Alessi and Weimer sits ahead of Reed. The heat is won by Villopoto, followed by Barcia, Millsaps, Weimer and Reed. 450 Main Event - Chad Reed finally gets a good start... and stays upright! He's followed closely by Davi Millsaps and Ryan Villopoto. The pace is intense and behind the top three is Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, Weimer, Short and Barcia. By lap two Millsaps has taken over the lead, by lap three Villopoto has gotten by Reed. Villopoto looks fast, but Millsaps is controlling the lines and keeps the lead. Dungey gets by Reed for third then stalls before the triple and lets Reed past again. By lap twelve Villopoto jumps to the inside of Millsaps after the finish line and takes over the lead. First across the finish line is Ryan Villopoto followed by Millsaps, Dungey and Reed. Results Round 12 Ama Supercross Toronto 2013:
Point Standings after Round 12:
A healthy Millsaps lead Villopoto for twelve laps. Coming into the weeks break, if Millsaps can stay healthy and get in some good practice I think he could hold off Villopoto next race! Reed is off for surgey and will miss the next round. Stewart needs to carry practice and heat race speed to the main. Dungey needs to get aggressive. |
